What are the chemicals we eat every day?
Monday, April 30, 2012
Even
the most experienced cook can not fully appreciate the quality of the product
in the eyes. In some cases, odor and color play only a function of the
beautiful packaging, behind which hides a set of dubious ingredients. The
researchers tested a few products to find out where and under what kind of
potential danger may be lurking.
Butane
Universal
Gas is suitable not only for the lighters. The food industry considers butane
as artificial antioxidant. Chemical element is added to chicken nuggets to keep
fresh. The dish, which in appearance looks like just cooked, it can be
podzapravleno butane.
Most
often found in ready-made processed foods with long shelf life, such as frozen
foods, crackers, chips and fast food.
Estrogen
Elevated
levels of estrogen indicates a questionable origin of the product. Most often,
a hormone given to cows milk and meat. Estrogen causes rapid development and
growth, which increases milk production and the amount of meat products. And
while the question "Is it bad" experts answer is negative, to use
such products as food physicians strongly recommend.
Powder
Spinach
The
composition of some green pastry, or at least a hint of it is only indirectly
related to the vegetable crops. As a component simulating green, dehydrated,
and is used here does not have the nutritional value of spinach. The use of
such products as useful as it is dust.
Propylene
glycol or antifreeze
The
substance is traditionally used in the automotive and cosmetic industries. The
reagent does not freeze panes, and also provides water-holding and soothing
effect. Because the adverse symptoms were not recorded, the substance was used
as a food additive to create these same properties in food.
Potentially
hazardous food: confectionery, alcoholic and non-alcoholic carbonated
beverages, energy, frozen fruits and poultry.
Vanillin
Since
natural vanilla is expensive, and the world needs is a few thousand tons per
year, was invented a method for synthesizing the substance of the more
accessible parts. Most vanillin is produced from lignin - a byproduct of pulp
and paper industry.
Used
as a flavor in yogurt, baked goods, beverages and confectionery.
The
substance of the glands of the beaver
Aromatic
substance extracted from the glands of the beaver. Initially, a mixture
designed for medical purposes. Over time, it began to be used in the perfume
industry as a natural perfume fixative and odor. In terms of the substance of
the food industry can play a raspberry flavoring. It is believed that these
days the jet is added only in expensive spirits in practice, beaver gland found
in the jelly, ice cream, candy and flavored drinks.
The
fact of what constitutes a product, usually written on the package, but for the
modern buyer is nothing more than a formality. Going for food, should not be
limited to entertaining reading matter on the shelf-life, especially if the
product is wrapped in colorful packaging, or sold at a low price is tempting.

Written by An Indian Software Engineer
A Bitter Reality
As the dream of most parents I had acquired a degree in
Software Engineering and joined a company based in USA, the
land of braves and opportunity. When I arrived in the USA, it
was as if a dream had come true.
Here at last I was in the place where I want to be. I decided I
would be staying in this country for about Five years in which
time I would have earned enough money to settle down in India.
My father was a government employee and after his retirement,
the only asset he could acquire was a decent one bedroom flat.
I wanted to do some thing more than him. I started feeling
homesick and lonely as the time passed. I used to call home and
speak to my parents every week using cheap international phone
cards. Two years passed, two years of Burgers at McDonald's and
pizzas and discos and 2 years watching the foreign exchange
rate getting happy whenever the Rupee value went down.
Finally I decided to get married. Told my parents that I have
only 10 days of holidays and everything must be done within
these 10 days. I got my ticket booked in the cheapest flight.
Was jubilant and was actually enjoying hopping for gifts for
all my friends back home. If I miss anyone then there will be
talks. After reaching home I spent home one week going through
all the photographs of girls and as the time was getting
shorter I was forced to select one candidate.
In-laws told me, to my surprise, that I would have to get
married in 2-3 days, as I will not get anymore holidays. After
the marriage, it was time to return to USA, after giving some
money to my parents and telling the neighbors to look after
them, we returned to USA.
My wife enjoyed this country for about two months and then she
started feeling lonely. The frequency of calling India
increased to twice in a week sometimes 3 times a week. Our
savings started diminishing.
After two more years we started to
have kids. Two lovely kids, a boy and a girl, were gifted to us
by the almighty. Every time I spoke to my parents, they asked
me to come to India so that they can see their grand-children.
Every year I decide to go to India… But part work part
monetary conditions prevented it. Years went by and visiting
India was a distant dream. Then suddenly one day I got a
message that my parents were seriously sick. I tried but I
couldn't get any holidays and thus could not go to India ... The
next message I got was my parents had passed away and as there
was no one to do the last rights the society members had done
whatever they could. I was depressed. My parents had passed
away without seeing their grand children.
After couple more years passed away, much to my children's
dislike and my wife's joy we returned to India to settle down.
I started to look for a suitable property, but to my dismay my
savings were short and the property prices had gone up during
all these years. I had to return to the USA...
My wife refused to come back with me and my children refused to
stay in India... My 2 children and I returned to USA after
promising my wife I would be back for good after two years.
Time passed by, my daughter decided to get married to an
American and my son was happy living in USA... I decided that
had enough and wound-up every thing and returned to India... I
had just enough money to buy a decent 02 bedroom flat in a
well-developed locality.
Now I am 60 years old and the only time I go out of the flat is
for the routine visit to the nearby temple. My faithful wife
has also left me and gone to the holy abode.
Sometimes
I wondered was it worth all this?
My father, even after staying in India,
Had a house to his name and I too have
the same nothing more.
I lost my parents and children for just ONE EXTRA BEDROOM.
Looking out from the window I see a lot of children dancing.
This damned cable TV has spoiled our new generation and these
children are losing their values and culture because of it. I
get occasional cards from my children asking I am alright. Well
at least they remember me.
Now perhaps after I die it will be the neighbors again who will
be performing my last rights, God Bless them.
But the question
still
remains 'was all this worth it?'
I am still searching for an answer.................!!!
START THINKING
IS IT JUST FOR ONE EXTRA BEDROOM???
LIFE IS BEYOND THIS …..DON'T JUST LEAVE YOUR LIFE ……..
START LIVING IT …….
LIVE IT AS YOU WANT IT TO BE

Athletes Are Able To Run Faster After Eating Beetroot
Eating beetroot can boost athletic performance, research has suggested, by helping runners finish faster.
Scientists have discovered athletes who eat baked beetroot before a race run put in a faster time.
The purple root vegetable contains high levels of chemicals called nitrates, which have been shown to boost exercise performance.
Scientists have discovered athletes who eat baked beetroot before a race run put in a faster time.
The purple root vegetable contains high levels of chemicals called nitrates, which have been shown to boost exercise performance.
Researchers at St Louis University in America found athletes were able to run five kilometres faster after eating beetroot than after eating cranberries. It follows other studies that have shown beetroot juice can increase stamina and make muscles more efficient. The St Louis team recruited 11 fit and healthy men and women and asked them to run five kilometres on a treadmill, twice.
Before the first run, the volunteers consumed a portion of baked beetroot, of about 200 grams, or 7 ounces, of beetroot just over an hour before hitting the treadmill. Before the second run, they ate an equivalent amount of cranberry relish, chosen because it has a similar calorific content to beetroot but without the same nitrate levels.
The results, published in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, showed that after eating the cranberry relish, the runners averaged a speed of 11.9 kilometres per hour, or 7.3mph.
But after consuming beetroot, their average speed went up to 12.3 kilometres per hour, around 7.6mph.
Researchers said runners appear to be able to speed up in the last section of the run after eating beetroot.
In a report on their findings, they said: "During the last 1.1 miles of the run, speed was five per cent faster in the beetroot trial."
Lead author Margaret Murphy wrote in the journal: "Consumption of nitrate-rich, whole beetroot improves running performance in healthy adults."Because whole vegetables have been shown to have health benefits, whereas nitrates from other sources may have detrimental health effects, it would be prudent for individuals seeking performance benefits to obtain nitrates from whole vegetables, such as beetroot."
It follows previous research on the benefits of beetroot juice carried by out Peninsula Medical School in Exeter.
One published in the Journal of Applied Physiology in 2010, found that after drinking the juice participants muscles were more efficient and used less oxygen while walking.Katie Lansley, a PhD student from the university’s Sport and Health Sciences department and lead author of the study, said:
“As you get older, or if you have conditions which affect your cardiovascular system, the amount of oxygen you can take in to use during exercise drops considerably. This means that, for some people, even simple tasks like walking may not be manageable.
“What we’ve seen in this study is that beetroot juice can actually reduce the amount of oxygen you need to perform even low-intensity exercise. In principle, this effect could help people do things they wouldn’t otherwise be able to do.”
Beetroot juice seemed to widen blood vessels, reducing blood pressure and allowing more blood flow and affected muscle reducing the amount of oxygen needed during activity.
In 2009 Peninsula researchers found drinking beetroot juice could have a powerful effect on stamina and endurance, as well as lower blood pressure.
The researchers, from the University of Exeter and the Peninsula Medical School, also in Exeter, recruited eight healthy young men to complete a series of cycling tests.
They took them twice – after drinking beetroot juice once a day for six days and after drinking blackcurrant cordial.
When tasked with cycling at an easy pace, the men used less oxygen after drinking beetroot, suggesting their muscles were able to do the same amount of work while spending less energy.
When they were asked to cycle for as long as they could before stopping, the beetroot juice allowed them to pedal an extra minute-and-a-half before running out of energy.
This 16 per cent increase in endurance could mean someone who normally
runs out of steam after jogging for an hour would be able to keep going
for an extra ten minutes.

Life isn't a straight road,
There is a curve called failure,
A loop called confusion,
Speed bumps called friends,
Red lights called enemies,
Caution signs called family,⚠
And sometimes you have a flat tire called jobs,
But if you have a spare called determination,
And the engine called perseverance,
You'll make it to a place called success...!!

Poor neighbour!!
An older, tired-looking dog wandered into my yard.
I could tell from his collar and well-fed belly that he had a home and was well taken care of.
...
He calmly came over to me, I gave him a few pats on his head. He then
followed me into my house, slowly walked down the hall, curled up in the
corner and fell asleep.
An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out.
D next day he was bck, greeted me in my yard, walked inside nd resumed his spot in d hall nd again slept 4 about an hour.
Dis continued off nd on for several weeks.
Curious I pinned a note to his collar:'I would like 2 find out who d
owner of dis wonderful sweet dog is and ask if u r aware dat almost
every afternoon ur dog comes to my house 4 a nap.
D next day he
arrived 4 his nap, with a different note pinned to his collar:'Yes, He
lives in a home, with my non stop chatting & nagging wife, he's
trying 2 catch up on his sleep...
Can I come with him!!
