Get Creative

There are lots of different arts & crafts that you can make from waste. Try reusing some of the waste you create by making the arts & crafts suggested. All you need to do is, make sure you have all the materials and equipment needed and then follow the simple instructions.
Materials & Equipment Needed

  1. Milk or juice carton
  2. Scissors
  3. Crayon
  4. Ruler
  5. Double sided sticky tape
  6. Two bamboo skewers/straight thin twigs
  7. Bird seed
  8. Hole punch
  9. Twine/string

Instructions
  1. Draw this shape of the entrance on the front of the carton using your crayon and ruler.

  2. Use your scissors to cut out the shape. Make sure you keep the shape you cut out.

  3. Fold the shape you have cut out in half length ways using the top peak as the centre point.

  4. Use your scissors to make a centimetre long cut from the top peak down the centre fold.

  5. Fold up a centimetre flap on each side of this cut.

  6. Attach your double sided sticky tape to the length of each flap.

  7. Insert the flaps into the top of the cut out entrance of the carton, then press the sticky tape against the inside wall of the carton, making a secure rood.

  8. Push one of your bamboo skewers or twigs through the carton, on the left side just below the entrance. Ensure this goes all the way through and out the back to make a secure perch. Repeat this on the right side just below the entrance.

  9. Punch two holes in the top line of the carton using your hole punch.

  10. Thread your twine or string through the holes to make a hanger.
You can decorate your bird feeder as you please, then put bird seed in the bottom of it and hang it from a tree branch that you can easily reach to refill the bird seed.
