Foods and drink that are good for skin are also often good for hair because of the similar protein structures that the two share.

Water

Water is far and away the best drink for healthy skin and hair. Constant hydration helps cleanse the skin and hair of elements that lead to acne and split ends. Mineral water is especially good for you because it has additional nutrients for the skin.

Vitamin A



Vitamin A is beneficial for healthy skin because it contains antioxidants, which protect cells from free radicals. It is particularly helpful for individuals suffering from diabetes and thyroid problems. Many dairy products are high in Vitamin A.

Antioxidants


Foods high in antioxidants, such as many types of berries (including strawberries and blueberries) are good for healthy skin and hair because they help counteract the damage caused by overexposure to the sun.


Essential Fatty Acids



Foods high in essential fatty acids (such as salmon, walnuts and flax seeds) encourage healthy hair and skin growth because they create healthy cell membranes, which allows for easier passage of nutrients into skin and hair cells.
